İNTES was awarded a grant for the project entitled “Measurement and Assessment, Training and Employment in Construction Industry” project within the framework of “Active Employment Measures Grant Plan 2008” program, signed on November 28th, 2008, financed by EU.
With this project, İNTES expects to lay the foundations of establishing strong and effective connections in the Training-Employment-Workforce triangle, which has been lacking in the construction industry in Turkey. Vocational standards program, which is being carried out by İNTES, will also be instrumental in implementing this project.
The fundamental goal of the project can be defined as “EMPLOYEMENT-ORIENTED VOCATIONAL TRAINING”. The project duration is the time period between December 1st, 2008 and November 30th, 2009. Social partner of İNTES for this project is YOL-İŞ, and contributing institutions are Turkish Training Site (TTS), Gazi University EU Research and Implementation Centre and The Association of Private Employment Offices.
The project will help update workforce market analysis for the construction industry and determine the common expectations on both sides of the supply and demand cycle. Other outcomes of the project can be listed as: creating cooperation among university, public, industry and social partners, and establishing the demands of the target group and employers.
General Aim of the Project
The project aims to plan active measures to increase the employment capacity of young people. Therefore, it will be ensured that qualified workforce needed in the construction industry be supplied rapidly and at desired quality. The project will contribute to increasing the number of unemployed young people joining the workforce in Turkey.
Specific Target of the Project
Providing employment for a total of 200 unemployed young persons wishing to work in the selected jobs determined according to the demands of the construction industry workforce market, after being trained
¨ According to programs based on vocational standards and modern technology,
¨ Having undergone assessment schemes consistent with vocational standards,
¨ By using updated training programs,
¨ By receiving a great deal of practical training,
¨ By acquiring skills or restructuring their existing skills, and being offered 100% employment guarantee both in Turkey and abroad for those who are successful.
Fundamental Steps of the Project
The fundamental steps of the project can be listed as follows:
- Assessing the current knowledge and skill levels of the participants at the start of the training program by using the vocational standards
- Designing the appropriate training program (practice and theory) for each participant and carrying it out
- Upon conclusion of the training program, re-assessing their knowledge and skill levels
- Giving out certificates of participation
